Mantrailing
Mantrailing
Trailing focuses on teaching your dog to pick up the persons scent from an article, then follow their trail using a mix of ground and air scent to find them at the end and earn their reward.
Trailing is accessible to all people and dogs, all ages and breeds are welcome. If you have found group classes unsuitable for your dog maybe because they bark or get over excited then trailing could be for you. Nervous and/or reactive dogs can also take part as dogs are worked one at a time.
The Benefits
Fun and social sport where you can meet likeminded people
Build a great relationship with your dog
Spend time outdoors and get that daily step count up
Give your dog a job by harnessing their natural instincts
Low impact meaning less pressure and impact on your dog’s joints
Boost your dog’s confidence
A physical and mental workout in one
Get competitive by completing optional trailing assessments
How It Works
Getting Started
If you have never trailed before you will need to book onto an introduction space. Introduction spaces are available on most weekend progression dates listed on the booking page.
Alternatively, there may be an Introduction workshop available.
Progression
Once you have had an introduction you can book onto any progression session as and when. There isn’t a particular course or set number of times to trail, you can progress at whatever pace suits you.
Progression sessions are held at different locations in and around Shrewsbury.
Review
“We attended Dee’s introduction to mantrailing course with our lab and GSD.
We had a great day and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed it, both were happily tired after. Dee was a great instructor and is obviously very passionate about what she does, very encouraging and patient.
We learnt a lot. She was also very understanding about our reactive GSD and made all the necessary adjustments for him to be able to enjoy it stress free.
Thank you Dee.
Highly recommend for any breeds/age.”
